Ideas for Family during Lent

Family Lenten Journey
If you are a parent, grandparent or share time with young children frequently, you are invited to journey together and enrich their experience of faith along the way.

IDEAS FOR LENT
Set up a Family Worship Area
•  Allow children to find a corner or table or sitting area to create a worship and prayer space.
•  Help them gather or make things for their space in which the family will gather for worship and prayer during Lent, and even beyond if the practice becomes life giving.
•  Items to gather with your child might include:
Bible, cross (even handmade) - purple cloth for the color of lent - battery candles to encourage children to go alone to pray -  and candle for when family prays together - colors and paper for journaling and drawing - finger labyrinth (place it in a clear paper protector and it will last longer)
•  If using a floor space, create sitting pads so the children can come to the circle and place sitting squares for everyone in the family. It is your space whether a small table, floor or dining room table at mealtime, make it a sacred time that leads your child and family into a special time together before God. •  Create a special time in your day to gather and pray. Our Journey may include other items to add, so check enews weekly.
Note:  Take a picture of your Worship Space and even a video of your family spending time together and we will share with our Community of faith, if you’d like to share a prayer in video, from your  Sacred Worship Space, let us know so we can include it in Sunday worsh
