Our Story

Touchstone Community Church began with a simple but powerful conviction: everyone deserves a place to belong.

For years, our founders, Rev. Kerry Kirtley and Rev. Billie Watts, dreamed of creating a faith community where God's love would be proclaimed without exception—a community rooted in grace, justice, authenticity, and welcome. Drawn to the values of the United Church of Christ, they answered God's call to help bring that vision to life in Boerne.

That vision became reality on June 30, 2019, when Touchstone hosted its first worship gathering following the Boerne Pride Walk. What began as a dream shared by a few quickly became a gathering of many, confirming a deep need for an open and affirming, justice-seeking spiritual community in the Texas Hill Country.

Since then, Touchstone has grown into a vibrant community of people from many different backgrounds and faith journeys. Some have been lifelong churchgoers. Others are rediscovering faith after difficult experiences with religion. Many came searching for a place where they could be fully themselves and fully loved.

The name "Touchstone" refers to a standard by which something is tested and found genuine. For us, the touchstone is the life and teachings of Jesus—his radical welcome, boundless compassion, and commitment to justice. We strive to embody those values in our worship, our relationships, and our service to the world.

Today, we continue to build a community where all belong, all can become who God created them to be, and all are reminded that they are beloved.

Wherever you are on your journey, we hope you'll join us. There is a place for you here.
