At Touchstone, we are a community of faith built on belonging and becoming, grounded in our belovedness. The challenge is seeing and believing we are “exactly” who God created us to be. In our diversity and distinctiveness, gifted by spirit, and motivated by divine love, we move toward unity in beloved community throughout all of creation.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is a shining light in the laborious and courageous work of justice toward peace and unity in a world divided by race to the detriment of God’s vision of a beloved community.

Normally, we might pause and walk in his honor. These “feet on the ground” gatherings commemorating his life, are on the back burner this year. This year, perhaps we should do a little more work in absence of the MLK Walk. Perhaps we look at the signs we hold up and study the human lives and context that brought forth the quotes we love to share. Let us honor the lives lost and beaten and imprisoned and oppressed by recognizing our strength in solidarity.

This week, and in the weeks to come, we will look at Paul’s response to the Church in Corinth. A gathering of diversity, interdependent on one another, united by spirit and fed by love. The work is a messy blessing. We at Touchstone get to reap the benefits of lessons learned from the stories of God’s people within the lived experience of “God with us” throughout human history.

We welcome and affirm you, just as God envisioned. Our family of faith awaits you and your distinctive gifts as we, like the church in Corinth, learn to be expressions of God’s inclusive love, seeking justice and shalom.

Come and be with us. There is a place for you. —Pastor Kerry
