This Sunday, Touchstone welcomed back Rev. Cameron Burton
(Cam; he/him/his) as guest pastor bringing a good word from the book of Job.
This Sunday, October 3, is also World Communion Sunday. The first Sunday of October has become a time when Christians in every culture share communion to remember and affirm Christ as the Head of the Church. On that day, they remember that they are part of the whole body of believers. Whether shared in a grand cathedral, a mud hut, outside on a hilltop, in a meetinghouse, or in a storefront, Christians celebrate the communion liturgy in as many ways as there are congregations. World Communion Sunday can be both a profound worship experience and a time for learning more about our wider community of faith.
Cam is the Interim Director of Spiritual Care and Clinical Ethics at St. David’s South Austin Medical Center, and also a member of Trinity Church of Austin. Though a recent addition to the United Church of Christ after a tenure in the United Methodist Church, Cam has been a minister for over 15 years serving in both congregational and hospital ministry.
Cam is proud to be a native Texan who lists the loves of his life as Mexican food, swimming pools, Fleetwood Mac’s Greatest Hits album, chocolate cake, and horror movies. Cam and his husband, Wade, have called Austin home since 2010.
Peace, Pastor Kerry (she/her/hers)
