theologically progressive - open & affirming

As we journey together into fall, I can say with all the confidence of a beloved child of God, “I won’t take nothing for this journey now.” This is also happens to be the title of a book by Maya Angelou of her shared "stories of becoming" on life’s journey.
As a child of God in beloved community, our unique stories of journey include challenge, heartbreak, rejection and joy. Yet we find ourselves here, together, in this special place envisioned by God as a place for ALL to be affirmed, seek refuge, provide sanctuary and a place of belonging.
This month we will focus on the book of James, reflecting on our stories, our identity as individuals, children of God, community, and our response in the world. Touchstones, to where and whom are we called to be on the continued journey which we travel together in divine love?
On the Journey, especially in times of stress or upheaval or chaos, in personal lives and communal life… sometimes we just need to return to basics…to the practical… practice our faith together. This week we will focus on wisdom and word. Do we build up or tear down the kin-dom on our journey? James 3:1-12.
No matter where you are, what you’ve done or experienced, no matter who you love or what you believe, there is a place for you.

Peace, Pastor Kerry (she, her, hers)
